A Thoughtfully Personal Celebration at Woodlawn and Pope Leighey House
From the start, this couple knew they wanted a wedding that felt connected to nature, creative, and personal. They chose Woodlawn and Pope Leighey House because it offered everything they dreamed of: gorgeous outdoor space, flexible options for layout and flow, and historic charm that added depth and character without feeling overdone.
Nestled in Alexandria, VA, Woodlawn and Pope Leighey House is one of my favorite venues for couples who want a truly special outdoor wedding. The grounds are expansive yet intimate, with rolling lawns, towering trees, and stunning historic architecture that set a romantic backdrop. It’s the kind of place where you can let nature do the decorating, while still adding your own signature style.
We used the sweeping lawn for both the ceremony and reception, creating a seamless guest experience without the need to travel between sites. Guests could enjoy the natural beauty all evening, moving from cocktails to dinner to dancing under open skies.

Floral Installations That Made Magic
Florals were a huge part of this wedding’s design, and honestly—they stole the show. The couple wanted arrangements that felt lush, romantic, and a little wild to reflect their love of nature.
We designed climbing floral installations on the trees that looked like they’d been growing there for years. The ceremony space was framed by vibrant, organic arrangements that felt natural but elevated. Every detail was intentional, celebrating the season and the couple’s expressive, colorful style.
One of the things I love most about Woodlawn and Pope Leighey House is how well it works with bold floral design. The historic, natural setting makes flowers pop in such a beautiful, timeless way.

A Picture-Perfect Outdoor Wedding Day
We truly could not have asked for better weather. Sunshine, mild temperatures, a soft breeze—it was one of those magical days that felt calm and celebratory at the same time. (I like to joke that perfect weather is an add-on service!)
Guests were able to relax and soak it all in. Cocktail hour on the lawn felt like a garden party, dinner under strings of lights was intimate and elegant, and dancing under the stars capped off the perfect evening.
