A Little About My Couple

L & L are truly the definition of fun-loving and carefree, but with a deep respect for their families and cultures. They wanted their wedding to honor those roots while feeling relaxed and joyous. The wedding was multicultural, weaving in strong traditions on both sides in a way that felt authentic and beautiful. From our first meeting, it was clear how much they valued family, culture, and creating an unforgettable guest experience.

They met in D.C., quickly bonding over shared interests, a sense of humor, and big hearts. Both have busy professional lives but made planning a priority, always thoughtful about the meaning behind every choice. It was important to them that their wedding felt like them—inclusive, warm, and full of life.

A Two-Day Celebration Honoring Tradition

We planned and executed two distinct yet seamlessly connected days. Friday was dedicated to their traditional Indian wedding attire and cultural ceremonies—a vibrant, beautiful evening of heritage, color, and close family moments. Saturday was their elegant wedding day, with a ceremony at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church and an evening reception at Columbia Country Club.

One of the things I loved most about this couple was their commitment to both honoring tradition and making sure every guest felt welcomed and cared for.

Why Columbia Country Club Was So Meaningful

The choice of Columbia Country Club for their reception wasn’t random—it was deeply personal. The bride’s family has long been members, going there every Thursday for dinner, and she grew up wandering those halls and golf-course views. There’s something so special about celebrating one of life’s biggest milestones in a place that feels like home. It wasn’t just a venue—it was a part of her story.

Columbia Country Club is perfect for this type of celebration. The grand ballroom is classic and elegant with soaring ceilings and large windows that flood the space with natural light, which worked beautifully with the couple’s vibrant floral palette. Guests enjoyed cocktails on the terrace overlooking the pristine golf course, the trees ablaze in autumn color. It was the quintessential fall in Chevy Chase—crisp air, colorful foliage, and a warm, inviting atmosphere inside.

Another reason I love working at Columbia Country Club? The staff is phenomenal. They know hospitality inside and out and made sure every guest felt cared for. The service was polished but never stuffy—a perfect match for L & L’s relaxed but elegant vibe. The venue also offers so many flexible spaces, which made managing the flow from cocktails to dinner to dancing a breeze. If you’re looking for a venue that balances tradition, elegance, and a personal touch, Columbia Country Club is hard to beat.

Thoughtful Details and Personal Touches

Their ceremony at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church held its own meaning—one of their parents had married there years before. These kinds of choices added layers of significance throughout the weekend.

The color palette was intentionally bold and joyful. We worked with the florist to design arrangements full of rich, vibrant colors to evoke that celebratory, multicultural vibe while also playing beautifully with the fall season.

Their wedding party and attire also honored both sides of their heritage. Friday featured stunning traditional Indian garments. On Saturday, the couple and their wedding party wore modern, elegant formalwear, a nod to the timeless look they wanted for their photos and reception. Guests loved seeing both aspects of their story come to life over the weekend.

Behind the Scenes with O’Neil Events

As their planner, my biggest contribution was making sure this two-day celebration felt seamless for them and their guests. That meant communicating constantly with multiple vendors, managing two very different event days, and making sure nothing fell through the cracks. It’s one of the things I love most about this work—being the calm in the middle of the storm so my couples can simply enjoy their wedding.

Here’s what they shared about working with me:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“So glad we found O’Neil Events! I worked with Colleen for our wedding and she was so helpful throughout the process. She had good advice coming from years of experience and was always communicative and quick to respond. She made the whole wedding day feel easy and smooth and I am so glad we made the decision to work with her!”
